The Refectory
At Alton Convent we wholeheartedly encourage the move towards a healthier lifestyle within our school. In September 2012 we transformed our school hall into a new Refectory and all catering is now contracted to Holroyd Howe.
Holroyd Howe is one of the UK’s leading contract caterers, specialising in food services for independent schools and colleges. Their principle is ‘getting the balance right’, which simply means having enough fruit and vegetables, protein, fibre and starchy foods, and avoiding too much fat, sugar and salt. Holroyd Howe are committed to a ‘Fresh Food Policy’ that means at least 90% of the dishes they serve must be prepared from fresh ingredients.
Pupils will have a choice of two-course lunch comprising a soup, hot main, hot vegetarian, pasta or jacket potato and a selection of fresh vegetables. Each day there is a salad bar, hot pudding, fresh fruit pots and homemade yoghurt.
The following menus may be subject to change depending on supplies. A copy of the week’s menu is given to the class teacher and it is also displayed outside the Refectory on the noticeboard.
