Reception

Our Reception class provides a safe and nurturing environment for young children beginning their school life, with a fantastic array of opportunities and plenty of resources. Staff are welcoming and reassuring; a smooth transition from Nursery to Reception is our primary goal. We consider the needs of each individual child when planning and delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage, which covers each of the six areas of learning.

The focus is on the development of happy, confident and independent learners who enjoy and achieve consistently.

The transition from Reception into Key Stage 1 begins in the Summer Term. The children know the Year 1 teacher and will have had the opportunity to play with the Year 1 children. They begin to attend the Lower Prep assemblies, take part in sports day and are invited to the exciting end-of-term outing.

These activities help to ensure a smooth transition to the next Key Stage.
