U10 Rounders vs Daneshill

|

On Wednesday our U10 rounders team played Daneshill. It was a mixed team of Year 5 and Year 4. It was a great game, although because the pitch was wet and slippery, it was a bit different... We weren't allowed to run and so had to do star jumps instead, with 10 jumps for half a rounder and 20 for a full rounder! In the end, we won 5½  to 3. Everyone played well, with Millie as player of the match.

The under 11 rounders team had their first match of the season on the first day of term! It was a really good game and quite close between the two teams, Alton Convent and Dunhurst. The final score was 10½ to 14, to them. It was a lot of fun and I think everyone enjoyed it.

U11 Rounders vs King's Court

|

On Wednesday 11th June our team played against King's Court. We fielded first - we all worked together and did really well. Then it was our turn to bat - the whole team played our best and lots of rounders were scored. At the end of that we were drawing. The Year 5s played their innings then. When they had finished, they had scored a few more rounders but were still drawing, so we played again for the last time. The whole team did really well. King's Court managed to bring their score up to 12 rounders and at the last minute we managed to get our score to 12.5 rounders, so it was a lucky win for us. The whole team played amazingly, especially Maya who did extremely well as our bowler and Sophie who got player of the match for excellent playing and score three rounders.

U11 Rounders

On Wednesday 23rd may 2007 the girls in the U11 B team played our first rounders match. We played against Churchers. The first batting team was Churchers they scored 6 points. It was our turn to bat and we scored 5 points. Katie was man of the innings.
The second innings started with Churchers batting again. They scored 17.5 points. When we were batting we scored 12. The man of the innings was Imogen.
Overall Churchers won. It was really fun playing them and I hope we have another chance of playing against another school.

Upper Prep Inter-House Rounders

|
23 May 2008 - 1:30pm
23 May 2008 - 3:00pm

The first half of term, and assessment week, ended in fine style with an inter-house rounders competition. Each house fielded two teams, composed of Year 5s and 6s, with a smattering of Year 4s, for this round-robin tournament. Many of the matches were very closely fought, but the eventual winners, on an aggregate of points from both teams, were St Chantal.

U18 Rounders v Frensham Heights

|

At the same time as the U16s, Alton Sixth Form played Frensham too. Theirs was a much closer game with good fielding from both teams. Batting was also of a good standard with some big hits from Verity, which we now expect! At half time the score stood at 9 - 9.
In the second innings Alton fielded even better, preventing Frensham from scoring rounders although some tactical batting allowed them to score a number of halves. They ended on a score of 16. Alton went into bat but suddenly were struggling to make good contact with the ball. Lucy, another good hitter got stumped out relatively early so Megan stepped up her game to produce some good rounders. Once again Verity showed excellent hand eye coordination sending the Frensham fielders all over the place! Unfortunately one wayward hit got her stumped out with 3 minutes left to go. It was all very tight at the end, with Alton scoring the winning rounder with our last batter!

U16 Rounders v Frensham Heights

|

Alton got off to a good start by winning the toss and choosing to field first. This good luck continued with tight fielding that allowed Frensham to score only 10 rounders. When Alton took up the batting, they managed to score more than double Frensham's score with great hitting from Alex and Jo. Going back to field in the second innings, Alton were winning 15 - 6 and once again produced outstanding fielding with great catches by Amelia. Alton then went into bat on a score of 15, needing to beat Frensham's score which was 15! Alton had another great innings with Jo, Alicia, Amelia and Alex all scoring highly. The game finished with a comfortable victory by Alton, winning 25.5 - 16. Well done Alton, hopefully the rest of the season will be just as successful!
