Tsunami
EnglishTsunami
(An exercise in using short, sharp sentences for effect.)
He was terrified.Quickly, he ran to the back of the boat and tried his hardest to turn the boat around, but it would not turn. He ran back and saw the anchor had slipped into the water. Quick as lightning he hauled it up with all his might. Then he ran to the stern and began to steer it carefully in the opposite direction. But he was too late. The roar became deafening and he fainted with shock. With an enormous crash the wave took over the boat and smashed it completely into shreds. Andy never opened his eyes again.

EnglishMy school locks you in a cupboard
If you just say a word.
They beat up your brother
to give in your homework.
Don't come here
Oh, please don't.

Today I heard something sad,
Today I heard something scary.
Today my Grandma died
and I cried and cried.
Mum said there will be a funeral
but I don't want to go,
I know I'll just cry and cry and cry.
So that's why I don't want to go.
I want to go to bed but Mum won't let me go.
Dad said Grandma is still with us,
But where?
I'd do anything for my Grandma
Just as long as I saw her one last time.

My special room
EnglishA Special Place
(A short piece of descriptive writing)
We have one room in our house and it's not leasant, the room has a ghoslty presence, almost eerie. The curtains hand limply from the cold metal bar, in tatters and completely worn. The windows are stained with lime coloured dirt, the paint work is peelin. Next to the window there hangs a heavy, thick belt that I get struck with almost everyday.
But that's not the worst. At night I have to sleep under a creepy, dingy, dusty bed with cobwebs enclosed around me. The air is stale and dust lies heavy in the air like a large blanket, and we are concealed under. It is always draughty and chilly. We eat on a tall, uncomfortable wooden chair around a small, black stove surrounded by a brick wall.
There is never a smile just grim faces, almost every time I look at my mother I see a tear running down her face, or the room itself seems to weep as water trickles through a leak in the ceiling.
