Kingscourt won 2-1, bu we really enjoyed the match. I was man of the match and we had a great team, with Rebecca (GS), Eshana (GA), Claudia (WD), Anna (WA), Katya (GD), India (C) and me (GK).

The view from the B team:

On Tuesday 5th March there was a netball tournament held at the school. Everyone was very nervous and excited, but we all knew that we would have a great day.
First match: against the Alton Convent A team. We won the toss and got centre pass but unfortunately lost the game.
Second match: against Andrews Endowed. One of the easier wins.
Third match: against Medstead. An easier team but they played very well. We won after a hard fought game.
Fourth match: against St. Margaret’s. An extremely good team and the eventual winners of the tournament, so we did well to only lose by a small margin.
Fifth match : against the Alton Convent C team. Everyone on both teams was very tired so no-one was really playing as well as they had in the first few matches. We eventually won after a tough match.
Places: 1st : St. Margaret’s
2nd: Alton Convent A team
3rd: Alton Convent B team
4th: Andrews Endowed
5th: Medstead
6th: Alton Convent C team
Player of the tournament went to Harriet E for being a great Goal Attack and scoring 23 out of our 32 goals. Harriet N scored the other 9 goals. We all had a great day.
U11 Netball
Netball | Year 6

On Wednesday 27th February, the U11 netball team played a tournament at Lavant House. We started our first match against Lavant B. We set off with an amazing start and managed to beat the their team by 8-0. Team spirits were high and were maintained throughout the next matches: we passed quickly and scored goal after goal, winning 4-0 against Prebendal and 10-1 against Central. We won all three of our first round matches, thus securing a place in the knock-out. Alas, Lavant House A beat us by 3-2 to come first in the tournament. We were disappointed but held our heads high and won our next game against Prebendal 12-0, with all playing well to secure our third place overall. Girl of the match was Natasha, for one of the best goals in the tournament. We all enjoyed it and are looking forward to our next tournament.
U12 Netball Tournament
I Form | NetballThere was a lot of expectation from this team as they have not lost a match since September. They have gradually shown famtastic improvement and now look a well established team. Word had also got out and the tournament organiser also mentioned she expected to see us in the final - pressure!
So, on a cold evening Alton began their first tournament. None of them knew what to expect and were very nervous. Through the rounds we had 3 tough games with close results but all resulting in a win for us. One game was very easy with Alton winning 8 - 0 , that settled their nerves a bit!!! I felt that we were lacking a bit of width throughout the rounds and so their focus was to improve on this in the Semi Final. Crikey - what a shock that was! The game was played 5 mins each way and at half time we were 2 - 2. I could not see how we were going to break through but then some inspired play by Amy Leather and Rebecca Humphrey led to the all important goal taking us to 3 - 2 with our centre pass next! Alton put all thier practice into the game with a perfect centre pass routine resulting in a goal. We won 4 - 2! They were so excited - first tournament and straight into the final! We just had to wait and see agaisnt whom - it was Farnborough Hill. This was the one team we had not had a friendly with so we had no idea how they played. Their Goal shooter was as tall as ours!
So, it began. Alton were so up for it that straight away we went 3 - 1 up. I couldnt believe how well they were playing. Farnborough then got a couple back and so at half time it was 3- 3. In the last half each team onl;y scored 1 goal each ao at the final whistle it was a draw! 5 mins extra time had to be played. Farnborough scored first and we then hit straight back with another goal. Unfortunately we then had our one bad centre pass whicxh resulted in them scoring in the last minute. A final result of 6 - 5! Alton were understandably disappointed but as a team they put so much drive and entusiasm into the game - they were stars. For a first tournament I could not have asked for more - the only game they have lost all season - roll on next year!!
Players of the match - Alice (GS) and Isobel (WD)
U12 A & B Netball
I Form | NetballAway, vs St Nicholas
U12A - A brilliant game from this very strong year 7 team. To begin Alton were a bit sloppy with some loose passing and shooting but after 5 mins they settled down and started to assert their authority. Passing then became easy and so resulting in giving the shooters lots of chances. A fantastic win of 10 - 5 which was brilliant practice for the District tournament. Player of the match - Rebecca (c).
U12 B - This team had a much tougher match agaisnt some very good opponents. Alton were very keen and worked very hard but the ball would not go in the goal! A result of 6 - 9 but a close game.
U15 & U16 Netball
IV Form | Netball | V FormAway, vs Robert Mays
U15s - Another friendly against this team's arch rivals - we lost to them in the semi finals of the District tournament! Unfortunately we could not field our full team due to illness but even so we put out a strong side. It was neck and neck through every quarter with alton determined to get revenge! Unfortunately we then lost a couple of centre passes and subsequently a couple of goals and then could not get this back. Result a loss of 16 - 23. Player of the match - Rochelle (GD).
U16s - The year 11s have never beaten this team so it was tough from the start. Although our centre court play was excellent we could not get the ball into the circle to give our shooters a chance to shoot! Everyone worked hard but it was not to be, a loss of 11- 21.
U14 & U16 Netball
Netball | Senior SchoolAway, vs Lord Wandsworth
U14s - A fantastic match from this fastly improving Alton team. All players are improving dramatically and the team is really beginning to gel and the shooters scoring consistently. It was a very tight match with both teams working hard and very focussed throughout the game. Alton got to 6 - 4 up and then let LWC get a crafty one back! We managed to hold on though with a very deserving win of 6- 5. Player of the match - Emily (GS)
U16s - This team had an even tougher game and were lacking a bit of match practice due to GCSE mock exams. Even so they did work hard and only really had one bad quarter.
