Aims

  • To promote a sense of our Catholic community.
  • To develop spiritual awareness.
  • To provide opportunities to celebrate success.
  • To communicate with all students and staff.

Guidelines

Monday Assemblies (Senior)

A range of staff, students and outside speakers, including the Senior Management Team, are involved in assemblies. A Christian theme forms the basis of all assemblies. A proforma is given to the Deputy Head (Curriculum) detailing content and theme of all senior assemblies.

Monday Assemblies (Prep)

A whole school (prep) assembly led by a member of the senior management in the chapel.

Thursday Assemblies (Lower Prep)

Assembly based on a staff rota organized by the RE coordinator who provides thematic guidance and resources.

Friday Assemblies (Senior)

Assemblies undertaken by each form including videos, drama and music. Within this framework the Catholic tradition of our school is recognised: a prayer and moment of reflection is integral to each assembly

Friday Assemblies (Upper Prep)

Assembly based on a staff rota organized by the RE coordinator who provides thematic guidance and resources.

Form Tutors attend with their groups and all staff attend school assemblies.

Mass

In order to support the celebration of the liturgical year and in line with the Bishops' conference certain Holy Days will no longer be celebrated at school. This means that the Epiphany, the Ascension of the Lord and Corpus Christi will now be celebrated on Sunday.

The current practice is retained with regard to other Holy Days of Obligation. In other words, Christmas Day, the Apostles Peter and Paul, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and All Saints will continue to be celebrated as at present. Christmas Day, the
