Residential Oppurtunities

Throughout the Sixth Form our students are given the chance to participate in a number of residential opportunities: Cultural Visits, Weekend Retreats, Work Experience (sometime abroad), Foreign Exchanges, University Taster Courses such as Medilink, Leadership and Personal Development Programme and the HCPT Pilgrimage to Lourdes.

These events are open to everyone and provide many opportunities for students to get to know each other and build relationships. It is not necessary for every student to go on every visit or course but it is clear that many students enjoy these breaks from normal sixth form routine and find them refreshing and invigorating.

We believe that such experiences enjoyed by our students in the last two years, combined with the excellent results they achieve, have equipped our girls to take on the world.

Challenge, failure, fun, culture and occasionally mud have had a massive impact on the sixth form experience. The outcome has been high self esteem and self confidence, an extension of knowledge and understanding, increased cultural awareness and probably most importantly a sense of sharing in an adventure which has been created by them alone.

Lower VI Outdoor Pursuits

Each year our Lower Sixth get off to a good start with a weekend designed to build relationships and challenge the students. When they returned from Tregoyd House in September, the students said:

  • ‘I want to go back – now!’
  • ‘I loved it!’
  • 'Amazing, we all got to know each other and bonded’
  • 'It was good to set personal goals and achieve themn’
  • ‘The leaders were wonderful, very kind and supportive. They helped and encouraged us non-stop.’
  • 'It was fantastic. I did things I never thought possible.’
  • ‘When blindfolded and crawling through the tunnel, we all whispered back down the line to one another offering help and advice.’
  • ’ couldn’t stand the climbing, but I loved the weekend!’
  • 'The kyaking was brilliant even though I lost my shoe in the mud’.
  • 'I’ve conquered my fear of heights’.
