Curriculum

The reforms in Advanced Level introduced in September 2000 mean that far more combinations of subjects are available to students. The AS qualification is studied in the lower sixth and comprises 3 units. Despite some concerns, we believe it provides better progression from GCSE into Advanced Level. Most students pick up five AS subjects to keep breadth and this allows them to make assured choices for their A2 year. At the end of the lower sixth you may choose to stop studying any subject and be awarded an AS. In year two, three more units are studied and the full A Level grade awarded. An A Level is not awarded without having first achieved the AS.
