Mamma Mia comes to Alton Convent

|

GCSE and A'Level drama pupils were very lucky to have the opportunity to be visited by two professional performers from the London production of Mamma Mia the hit musical. The girls were treated to a fantastic day of dancing, singing and acting pieces from the show.

Accompanied by Peter Roberts a singing tutor and musical director from the Guildford School of Acting and Sylvia Young’s Theatre school, pupils learnt an array of ABBA songs including Waterloo, Thank You for the Music, and Mamma Mia. The girls sang superbly, sometimes in complicated three part harmonies.

Choosing two famous scenes from the show, all the girls had a chance to act as the main characters. At the end of the day the girls show-cased their multi talents by singing, dancing and acting all at the same time to a very appreciative audience! It really was an amazing experience, which greatly enhanced pupils’ performance skills, while they had loads of fun in the process!
