U9 Football vs Mayville
After a good start to the season with the Under 9 team thrashing Meoncross 3 - 0. Jamie scoring a hat-trick and John the player of the match our match against the old rivals Mayville looked a foregone conclusion as we comprehensively beat them last year. How fortunes do change as Alton playing a understrength side due to illness and inexperience players playing for the first time for 12 months. This inexperienced was exposed many times in the match as Mayville threatened to score many times but due to good goal keeping by Ben and stout defencive work by skipper Harry the score could have been far worse. Jamie playing only his second competitive game for the school showed great courage and basic skill in midfield and never giving up when all around him our game plan was fallen apart. Jamie was voted Man of the Match. The final score was a flattering 2 - 0 defeat. It is hoped that the boys will start to play to their strengths next match.
