Although the weather was not promising in the morning,  the school was on fire with anticipation for the House football Gala in the afternoon. There were two pools with each House having 2 teams consisting of all of Yr 6 and guests from Yr 5.

In the pool matches there were some glimpses of scintillating stuff on the pitches with some of the girls showing up the boys. One pool match had to go to golden goal between Augustine Cherries and Paul's Bananas. Excellent and brave goal keeping by Katya kept the Cherries at bay. However some excellent lead up work Rebecca and Zoe saw Josh slot the goal that mattered. In the other pool Natalia and Rebecca H of the Chantal Marshes kept all other teams at bay to reach the final; and what a final it was.

Josh R took command at the kick off and scored and this was quickly followed by a second from the boot of Rebecca. Beth defended well against the marauding Marshes with a clearing kick sent Josh to score again. In a sudden rush of blood Beth came in and scored from nowhere to the spectators delight. Katie and Ciara would not give in and gave Harry to score just before half time. With the Cherries 4 - 1 leading the Marshes, positional changes were made and the Marshes came out with all guns blazing. Attack after attack was thwarted by Tom and Sara with brilliant saves from Josh. Harry and Abi were determined to get close to the score. However a lose ball saw the Cherries score again. This made Harry and team all the more determined and in the end were rewarded with well worked goal. However, at the final whistle blew the Marshes were exhausted leaving the Augustine Cherries worthy winners 5-2.

It was a great final and a great afternoon entertaining football. Thank you to the footballers and teachers and pupils for the support you gave your House teams.
