Dear Parents,

Thank you for your splendid support of the children on this week’s Lower and Upper Prep Sports Days. These were great occasions: I was so impressed by the lovely spirit in which all took part and supported one another, beautifully illustrating the twin emphasis on participation and the pursuit of excellence which characterizes our approach to sport here. Mr Hoffman’s 7 Cs, courage, commitment, concentration, cooperation, control, confidence and communication, were much in evidence. I’d like to record my thanks to Mr Hoffman, Mrs Jeffery, Mrs Mylward and all the other staff who made these afternoons the successes they were.
We pride ourselves on the positive relationships that exist between the children: by and large they are very good at taking care of one another, of working and playing happily together, of learning both alongside and from their peers. Of course, children being children, this isn’t always the case, and parents often become aware that their son or daughter has fallen out with another child for one reason or another. I’d ask you not to try to sort things out with the other child or their parents yourself in these cases, but rather, if you don’t think the children will be able to sort things out themselves, to make class teachers, or indeed myself, aware of your concerns.
I’d like to thank you for your continuing support in our recent drive to improve aspects of uniform, and would ask that you continue to take care that the girls restrict themselves to plain navy hair accessories and, if they’ve had their ears pierced, simple silver or gold studs. No children should be wearing nail varnish (or other cosmetics) in school. We’re looking forward to the introduction of the new school uniform next year: and photos of the new uniform are online; I’m sure you’d agree that the children will look really smart in the new designs. The School Shop Trading Co Ltd will be in the Senior Foyer on 30th June and 1st July.
I do hope all Upper Prep parents will be able to join us for Presentation Afternoon, 2pm - 3pm, Tuesday 24th June, on which date all pupils in Reception to Year 6 will need a packed lunch.
