This unique photograph of the A4 Pacific class locomotive ‘Bittern’ was taken at Alton station on July 12th 2007. This was the first time since being withdrawn from service in 1966 that this famous old engine had been in steam. Bittern arrived at the Ropley engine sheds of the Mid-Hants Railway in 2001 in a very sorry state. Enthusiasts on the Mid Hants lovingly restored the engine, first builti in 1937, to its former glory. On July 12th Bittern made the historic trip from Alresford to Alton with hundreds of enthusiasts on board.

This tranquil photograph was taken on the shore of Loch Linnie, during the springtime. What makes this photograph so unusual is that it was taken at 10.45pm in the evening.

Historic ‘Three Queens’ photographs

On Tuesday, April 22nd 2008 a unique occasion was realised in the port of Southampton. For the first and only time in the history of the port, Cunard’s three Queens were in the port at the same time. This will never happen again. The three ships, Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth 2 and the latest addition to the Cunard fleet, the Queen Victoria, were photographed on this special day and are presented in this exclusive montage.
