Sixth Form Taster Day
Almost fifty prospective sixth form students enjoyed an excellent ‘Taster Day’ at Alton Convent School. The idea of the day was to give students a taste of what sixth form life is like at this high achieving sixth form.
Individual timetables were created for each girl enabling her to explore a wide range of subject options, enrichment activities and curriculum extension studies.
Students were able to attend sample lessons from the twenty eight A level subjects offered by the school. This wide choice ensured that all girls were able to explore the subjects of their choice. After break the focus switched to enrichment activities. Again the school’s inclusive nature meant that all students were able to attend Russian lessons, media editing , or for the more adventurous self defence classes.
After lunch a fleet of mini buses took the girls off to West Wittering to sample curriculum extension studies. A gloriously sunny afternoon allowed girls to walk East Head on Biology or Geography field work. Others splashed in and out of the sea as they discovered new angles for their photography. Creative writing sat quietly to listen as well as look while the Art students explored the beach for objects to create a 3D artefact.
It was a lively afternoon which came to a successful conclusion as students and teachers sat on the beach eating fish and chips as the sun set in spectacular fashion.
