Inter-House Football

| |

The afternoon air was filled with shrills, skills and thrills on the football pitches as the six teams battled trough their games. Each House had two teams in different pools. The top team from each pool played in the final. Prior to that match there was ch activity on and off the pitches as the 'ground staff' (5B) made final goal adjustments amid the buzz of the crowd of spectators (Year 4 and others).

From the first kick-off right down to the final touch of the ball, the quality and determination of the all the teams was magnificent. Emily's tackle on Josh R, Joe's shooting attempts, Chris's amazing goal-keeping antics, Rachel's never-say-die efforts, Matthew's terrier like tenacity... the list could go on and on.

The climax was the final between St Chantal's Coventry and St Augustine's Aardvarks. The game flowed from end to end, with stout defence from both teams; however, it was the individual brilliance of Josh "Freddie" R that saw the Aardvarks win 2-0. My fellow Ref, Mr Walker, and I were thrilled with everyone's efforts.

Three cheers for Mr Berry for instigating this event: it was a fabulous feast of football.
