Year 5 made their annual trip to Alton Town Centre to carry out their traffic survey. Positioned in three different places, children were encouraged to discover how much traffic was to be seen, how traffic was controlled, availability of parking spaces and how busy the town was among other things. This is part of our ongoing investigation into the local area, which falls within the geography lessons but has links to maths and literacy. Children will then be discussing whether they think the town should be closed to traffic altogether. This is always a good trip which produces much discussion.
