Sixth Form Enrichment

“You cannot help but learn more as you take the world into your hands. Take it up reverently, for it is an old piece of clay, with millions of thumbprints on it.”
John Updike

The sixth form aims to ensure students become balanced, mature, cultured and effective members of society equipped for higher education and professional work. They enjoy considerable independence in the purpose built sixth form centre where they learn to manage time and balance the demands of study and social life.

Our enrichment programme offers over 30 activities, some of which enable students to gain useful additional qualifications or improve learning: others allow expression of creative and sporting talent. Work experience and a period of voluntary service are arranged during the summer holiday.

Many activities including black tie events, theatre visits, field trips, an annual Alton Convent School inter-school sixth form conference and residential courses are undertaken with partner schools, including Salesian College, Farnborough. The lower sixth young men and women undertake a joint pilgrimage to Lourdes with HCPT where they work with disabled children. This is a central focus of the lower sixth form experience. Following a recent visit from sister schools in Varanasi, an expedition to India is now planned providing further cultural experiences, service and outreach opportunities.
