As part of Alton Convent School's 70th Jubilee celebrations, parents and friends were invited to an evening of art, music and dance. The evening started with a colourful display of Maypole dancing from pupils of year 5 and line dancing from year 6. Parents listened to the many musical solos from senior school girls and watched entranced as Sophie, recently named "Young Dancer of the Year", performed several ballet dances. From the Prep school, Joe impressed fellow pupils and parents alike with his interpretation of Pachelbel's Canon on the electric guitar. Joe, who has his own band, has recently won a musical scholarship to a major public school.

Whilst listening to the individual pieces, parents were able to wander through the art exhibition that displayed work from Reception up to the very talented ‘A' level students. Exam pieces from GCSE and ‘A' level art and photography were again of the very high standard that in the past has gained some pupils 100% in these exams.

Perhaps the highlight for the children was the staff choir who performed the "Conservation Song", complete with actions and costumes under the superb direction of the music teacher, causing much amusement. The evening concluded with performances from the school's choirs and orchestra, including a beautiful version of Celine Dion's "My heart will go on" from the senior school choir.

Headmistress Sue Kirkham thanked all those who had helped make the evening so special and especially the pupils for their outstanding performances. She hoped to welcome everyone back later in the year for the opening of the new Creative and Performing Arts Centre.
