U11 Cricket vs Prince's Mead

| |

It was vital for Alton to win this match against Prince's Mead to reach their second successive final in the League. Prince's Mead lost the toss and Alton elected to bat. Joel, being the most consistent player this year opened with Matthew, but played and missed to be bowled out. Alton found themselves under the kosh with few runs on the board. The second pairing of Jacob and William brought the score to a reasonable 224. This was followed by Tom and Lewis adding 15 more runs with their allotted 3 overs. Alex and newly promoted Holly did their best by not giving up their wicket and securing 9 more runs to a happier total of 248 for 1 wicket. The last pair of Josh and Edward tore into the Prince's Mead attack scoring a blistering 28 runs before Josh, attempting another big hit, was bowled. After the assigned 15 overs Alton had amassed an excellent score of 269 for 2.

Before Alton took to the field all the bowlers were reminded and encouraged to bowl line and length to secure our vistory. Lewis was brought on for the open the bowling attack and gained immediate success with Josh taking a superb reaction catch. Just the start Alton needed! Prince's Mead attempted to hit their way out of trouble with 17 runs in the next 5 overs. However Edward, bowling more consistently, bowled a super away swinger to gain another wicket. William found his form bowling straight, giving no bad balls in his 3 overs. By the end of Prince's Mead's innings they had scored 248 for 2. Alton had won their way into the 2007 final.

Overall it was the best all round performance this season, well done! It was difficult to choose who was "Man of the Match", however Edward's cavalier batting which was the talking point of the spectators after the match that was the deciding factor.
