On 2nd June, Year 6 went to France. We all had a wonderful time going to lots of new places and had lots of new experiences.

During the week, we went to St Valery, an historic town at the mouth of the Somme, Amiens and its cathedral, Le Touquet, a French market town, a chocolate factory and a goat farm. We also did some water sports, such as kayaking and raft building. All these activities were great, but my favourite was the tour of Rue and the quiz about it. Château du Broutel, where we were staying was really nice and friendly.

Start: 09:30

On 5th June Annabelle, Grace, Josh and Matthew (Y5) went to Portsmouth Cathedral for the Good Shepherd Appeal Mass. We left at half past nine with Mrs Bird. When we got there we went into the Cathedral and sat down, then Josh and Matthew got up and joined the procession of banners. Near the end of the mass, Annabelle and Grace went up to give the Bishop the check for over £2000.
At the end of the mass, we looked around the Cathedral and we had our own little organ recital by Paul Inwood. There were so many buttons on the organ! We went to the park across the street. We had a picnic and then Mrs Bird treated us to an ice-cream. We all had a great time and we cope we can go next year!

Start: 14:00

Nursery and Pre Prep hosted their annual Teddy Bears' Picnic to welcome some of our new children (and their bears) due to join us next year. Approx 60 bears, 55 children, 25 parents and staff enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in the glorious sunshine. The afternoon started with a bear hunt through the woods followed by story time, several songs, and ended with a wonderful tea party. Many thanks to all the parents for providing such a superb tea; it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
