Our Faith

“The knowledge which the pupils acquire of the world and of life is seen in the light of faith.”

Sister Madeleine, our founder

The life of our school is rooted in the Catholic tradition with an emphasis on personal faith, tolerance, service, friendship and respect for others. Pupils of all faith backgrounds are welcomed and nurtured within the school’s community.

Worship and prayer are integral to our daily activity. All pupils study Religious Studies with GCSE taken in Year 10. Mass is celebrated regularly and annual retreats feature for all pupils from Year 5, including the Sixth Form Easter pilgrimage to Lourdes with disabled children.

The school chapel provides a place for quiet prayer and reflection.

Pupils are actively involved in caring for others and fundraising for numerous charities, looking beyond themselves to the needs of the wider world.

Alton Convent School is one of the top Catholic schools in Hampshire.
