About Us

Graham and Will

Alton Convent School will surprise you.

An exciting, achieving school

You may be surprised to learn just how good a school this is. We have outstanding exam results, fantastic outdoor learning, trips to India and New York, a real academic emphasis as well as such unusual options as a photography A-level course, and a whole range of sports played to a high level. They are all part of what makes us special as one of the top independent schools in Hampshire.

Every school wants its pupils to achieve their potential, but at Alton Convent that has real meaning. It matters to us that pupils are challenged and that their education has breadth. To give you a few examples:

  • Every girl who has seriously wanted to read medicine in the last ten years is either practising or at university.
  • Our success rate in sport is phenomenal.
  • Our off-curricula drama days are just a taste of our love of culture and creativity.
  • In our non-selective Prep School 40% of Year 6 pupils are three years ahead in their reading age.

A loving, inclusive school

You will probably be expecting a loving, inclusive school but you will be surprised at how well we look after your child, and how well pupils care for each other. Your trust in us will bear fruit. Faith and mutual respect are our core principles and this is a happy school where everyone can be themselves without being bullied or teased. We are passionate about developing the personal talents of every child.

“Alton Convent School offers a combination of all that is good and exciting in education today. An infectious energy and enthusiasm can be felt through the entire school, and captivates you within minutes of walking through the door. Every day is a fresh day with challenges and opportunities. For our pupils, life at school will never be boring but will be busy, stimulating and satisfying.”

Mission Statement

Be the best that you can be

The Roman Catholic faith underpins everything that we do at Alton Convent School. It is the basis for our value system and is the core of our philosophy that every child matters.

The emphasis on the individual within the wider community is a necessary foundation for the happiness and success of the school.

All pupils participate in acts of worship and are expected to be supportive of the schools ethos.
