Prep Equestrian Team at Wellington

Poppy Foster, Emily Watson, Lucy Schryver and Georgina Milne formed a strong team, when representing Alton Convent at the Queen Anne’s School Show Jumping Competition this weekend.

Poppy & Tinkerbell

The pupils, their parents and the ponies experienced atrocious conditions, but despite the rain, mud and wind, they excelled in every class and took home a number of placings.Poppy Foster jumped a super round in the 40 cm class, and was unlucky to have just one pole down for 4 faults.

Emily Watson and Dylan the Villain looked very professional and produced a smooth, stylish and rhythmical round. The competition was judged on an optimum time and the nearest to this was declared the winner. Emily and Dylan achieved 1st place amongst some strong competition!

Emily & Dylan

In the next class, we fielded a very strong team of Poppy riding  Tinkerbell, Emily and Dylan the Villain and Lucy Schryver with The Darling Buds of May. The jumps were set at 50 cm and with just three members in the team, the pressure was on with all three scores had to count. Once again we performed with style and determination, ending on a score of zero and posting some good times.

After a long wait, it was announced that we had WON the team competition, with Emily coming 2nd individually, Lucy 3rd and Poppy equal 7th. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the prize giving, and the ponies enjoyed the lap of honour just as much!

Georgina & Dinah

In the final class of the day Lucy and Buddy jumped a lovely clear, although Buddy got a little excited which meant they ended up just out of the placings. Georgina Milne riding Dinah, also jumped a beautiful clear round and ended up 4th individually.

Huge congratulations to all who took part, and thanks must go to everyone who made the effort to make the day such a success! We are looking forward to our next competition in the new school year!
