Hagbane’s Doom

The families and friends of the children in Year 6 found the Drama Studio changed into a mysterious, magical world when they came to see the Year 6 Production of Hagbane’s Doom by Nick Perrin.  The story is one of good against evil and the fight against the wicked crone, Hagbane who terrorises the creatures of the magical world of Alamore and steals their precious ‘Merestone’.

Kathryn played the part of Hagbane brilliantly, along with her evil team of Grims and Grogs – Ruby, Gabriella, Olivia, Beth, Megan, Emily and Tristan.  Oliver, Georgina and Millie were great as the children who try to find the Merestone and return it to the Forest Folk.  Our hero – Prince Oswain was played with aplomb by Anna who led the band of creatures including Mr and Mrs Trotter – Ollie and Olivia, and Aldred and Stiggle – Chrisitian and Sophia.

The trees – Bryony, Scarlett, Jasmine and Imogen told the story clearly and expressively.  No one will forget the hilarious performances of Oscar, Henry and Eve as Fumble, Mumble and Grumble the three foolish mice that are always willing,  if not able, to help.

There were some fantastic solo singing performances by Kathryn, Millie, Anna, Paloma and Hannah.

Other notable performers were Amber as Foxy, Jemima, Imogen and Emily as the rabbits and Lucy as Arca the Eagle. Tristan, Beth and Emily managed to play several parts as well as being chief stage hands. Special thanks also go to Megan for her choreography ideas.

The music was beautiful, thanks to the hard work of Mrs  Ongley, Mrs Douglas, and the Year 8 musicians, Maisie, Charlotte and Beth.
